John Iliffe, VA3JI/VE3CES

John has been an Amateur Radio operator since May, 1969, gaining his Advanced certificate in 1971. He is also the holder of Digital Amateur certificate #22. (Digital is a deleted operator class).

He has extensive experience in most modes of operating although he prefers CW on the HF and MW bands. John also participates in the RAC contests each year and usually places in the top third in the results.

John was a director of the Canadian Amateur Radio Federation for several years in the late 1980's ending his service there as president for 4 years. He also served as First VP of Radio Amateurs of Canada from 2005 to 2007. He held a number of executive positions in the Peel Amateur Radio Club and the York Region Amateur Radio Club in the 1970's and 1980's.

John has been a co-author of the Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification Study Guide and its predecessors since 1982 and also has a number of other published books and magazine articles, both Amateur Radio and other topics.

John is a co-author of the following Coax Publications Inc publications:

After a career in mainframe computer operations and security, John retired in 2000 and is currently President of Coax Publications. He also designed, built, and maintains the Coax Publications web site.
